KENNELS
Powerful Working Border Collies
KayneCreek
Kennels
MANCHESTER, MICHIGAN | EST. 2026
Farm-raised Border Collies bred for purpose and heart. Our dogs work sheep, run agility at the highest levels, and come home to a life surrounded by children, livestock, and open land. Every dog is handled daily, trained with intention, and raised to be a partner — not just a pet.
OUR PROGRAM
Working Lines. Dual Purpose. Farm Raised.
We breed Border Collies to do what they were born to do — think, move, and work with their handler as one unit. Our dogs carry genetics proven on trial fields and in agility rings, and they grow up on a homestead that demands the temperament to match.
Working Lines Only
Our foundation dogs carry deep working pedigrees — generations of proven sheep dogs and high-drive performance dogs. We select for natural instinct, biddability, power, and the intelligence that defines the breed at its best.
Dual-Purpose Potential
Most of our dogs specialize — sheep or agility — but the best working Border Collies carry the drive, structure, and trainability for both. On occasion, a dog will run double duty, and that's the kind of versatility we breed toward.
Farm-Raised, Daily Handled
Our dogs live on the farm. They are around children, chickens, goats, sheep, cats, and other dogs from day one. No kennel-blind dogs here — these are socialized, confident animals who understand their world.
FOUNDATION DOG
KayneCreek Cricket
Our foundation sire represents the best of what we're building — power, heart, and lineage that traces back to the finest working Border Collies in North America and the Irish countryside.
KayneCreek Cricket
ABCA Registered · Foundation Sire · Bred by Shane Scallan
KayneCreek Cricket is our foundation sire — a powerful, confident male continuing his training on sheep. Born May 27, 2024, bred by Shane Scallan. He carries deep working lines on both sides: his sire SAM traces through Robinson's SVF program and South African imports, while his dam IMP. FLASH brings pure Irish trial blood from the Fanning and Crowe lines of Co Wicklow and Co Kildare. Black tri, smooth coat, medium build — and the instinct, eye, and natural authority that defines a true working Border Collie.

Coat & Trait Genetics: Coat Color: No dilute, no chocolate, no merle. One copy Mask (Em) — dark muzzle possible. Two copies Saddle Tan modifier (requires Tan Points to express). Coat Type: One copy Long Hair (lh1) — short coat likely, carrier for long coat. One copy Curly (KRT71) — soft wave possible. Seasonal shedder. No furnishings. Structure: Full tail length. No short legs. No brachycephaly.
One copy floppy ear variant — partially floppy ears likely.
Eyes: No blue eye variant detected.
Breeding Implications: Cricket's fully clear health panel means he can be paired with carriers on any of the tested conditions without risk of producing affected offspring. His 37% heterozygosity sits comfortably in the middle of the breed range — good genetic diversity without being an outlier. As a carrier of one copy of Long Hair (lh1), roughly half his puppies could inherit that copy, so pairing with a long-coat female (lh1/lh1) could produce long-coated pups. The single copy of Curly (KRT71) is worth noting for coat texture predictions in offspring.

BREEDING PLANS
Cricket × Saoirse — Fall 2026 Breeding Planned
Their first breeding is planned for fall 2026 — pairing deep Irish ISDS trial bloodlines with proven American ranch cattle stock. The resulting litter will represent a genuinely rare cross: SVF/South African working heritage meeting Kansas/Texas ranch lines. Puppy inquiries for this cross are welcome now.
OUR NEWEST ADDITIONS
Introducing KayneCreek Pivot and 5H Farms Kimber
Each will arrive in just a few weeks — Pivot, a red and white female from a purposefully bred litter carrying the TH Moss and JC Boris cattle lines we've been seeking. Red in working lines is rare. Finding it in a cattle-working pedigree this strong is rarer still.
5H Farms Kimber is a seal-colored female out of two proven working parents carrying deep Wyoming ranch genetics and Missouri/Texas working lines. Her sire Turner is a half-sibling to Gila Monster — the 2025 Meeker Classic Champion — sharing the same father, Ben, and the same breeder, Joni Tietjen of Clearmont, Wyoming. Joni trained and handled Monster for Maureen Scott Robinson, honoring Maureen's dying wish that her dog compete at Meeker. Monster went on to win the 2025 Meeker Classic under handler Jamie Spring and has qualified for the 2026 ISDS World Trials in Scotland. Kimber carries that same paternal line — Ben's Spot-line genetics imported from Bobby Henderson of Scotland — paired with her dam's proven Missouri and Texas ranch blood. She is KayneCreek's connection to the handler and kennel that carried Maureen Robinson's legacy to the top of American sheepdog competition.
Pivot
ABCA Registration Pending · Born March 10, 2026 · Red & White Female · Owned by Morgan Michaluk
KayneCreek Pivot is a red and white female born March 10, 2026 — joining the program at 8 weeks old from a litter bred by Cap an King Dog Line / Lynn McAlister in Kentucky. Her sire is TWITCH (ABC 53438), a red and white female out of JC Boris × TH Moss lines from Brad Bunderson's Grantsville, UT program. Her dam is a TH Rue × Neo son (ABC 522404), a red tri male from Allen Miller's Oklahoma cattle operation. Both parents are active cattle workers and producers. Red in legitimate working pedigrees is genuinely uncommon — Pivot brings that color tied directly to proven cattle genetics, which is exactly what we were looking for.

Introducing 5H Farms Kimber
Maureen Scott Robinson (1949–2020) was a handler, photographer, and breeder who mentored Morgan Michaluk — KayneCreek's co-founder — in agility and sheep work in Zirconia, North Carolina. Maureen's dog Eft (SVF Eft ABC 372036) produced Sam (ABC 423126), the sire of KayneCreek Cricket. Maureen entrusted her final dog, Gila Monster, to Joni Tietjen before losing her battle with ALS. Kimber's sire Turner was bred by Joni from the same father line. Two branches of one woman's legacy now live at KayneCreek.
